New Delhi, 30th December, 2017:GAIL (India) Limited commissioned India’s second largest rooftop solar PV power plant at its Petrochemical Complex at Pata, Uttar Pradesh. The 5.76 MWp Solar plant is spread over the roofs of Warehouses covering a total roof area of 65, 000 square meters. With an expected PLF of around 15% annually over 79 Lakh KWh of electricity is targeted to be generated for captive use of India’s largest gas based petrochemicals plant.

Shri. B. C. Tripathi, CMD of GAIL delightedly said, “GAIL as a marketer of benign natural gas is thrilled to integrate captive solar PV towards achieving lower carbon footprint at our major installation”

Captive solar pv initiative of GAIL shall reduce carbon emissions by 6300 TPA and help India achieve climate goals under COP21. GAIL’s solar rooftop project is also a step under ‘Make in India’ with Indian vendors entrusted for manufacture, supply and execution.

New Delhi, 29th December, 2017:GAIL (India) Limited has placed line pipe orders for approx. 400 Km for pipeline connectivity from Dobhi (in Bihar) to Durgapur (in West Bengal). With these awards, major contracts of the Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) project, i.e. pipe supply orders for 2100 Km and pipeline laying orders for 1700 Km have been finalized.

The prestigious 2655 Km long JHBDPL project, also known as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ project was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in July’2015. The project is progressing in full swing. GAIL till date has committed over Rs 6500 crores for the project which will pass through the state of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.

The project will usher Industrial development in East India by supplying environmentally clean Natural Gas to Fertilizer & Power plant, Refineries, Steel plants and other Industries. Further, the arrival of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga will provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people.

The project will also provide clean energy to households and transportation in the cities en-route the pipeline. The City gas Network laying activity in Varanasi & Bhubaneswar has already commenced and activities in other cities namely Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Cuttack & Kolkata will start by next month. The pilot project in   Bhubaneshwar  for providing PNG & CNG has already been inaugurated in Oct 2017 & Dec 2017 respectively , by Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Shri B. C. Tripathi, CMD, GAIL (India) Ltd. said that “GAIL is committed to complete the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project well within scheduled time and cost. Construction works for another prestigious pipeline project, which is also part of National Gas Grid, Kochi Kottanad Mangalore project in Kerala and Karnataka state has also gained momentum. I have reviewed the project activities in Kochi last week and I am confident that the pipeline will be completed well before the scheduled completion of Feb 2019.”

CMD, GAIL (India) Ltd , further added that “ Major contracts for both the projects have been awarded which will contribute to the Make in India initiative of Government of India and provide huge employment opportunities in the pipeline project and City Gas Distribution networks. GAIL will be spending its committed project Capex for the current Financial year which will enhanced by more than 50% to around Rs 6000 crores in the next fiscal year largely for the 4000 kms of pipe line and City Gas projects it is presently executing.”

Bhubaneswar, December 15, 2017: Marking another significant milestone in the spread of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga in Odisha, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will launch supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and CNG-run scooters in Bhubaneswar and lay the foundation stones for two new pipelines which are connected to the mainline.
In addition, GAIL (India) Limited will sign term-sheets with industrial customers for supply of Natural Gas and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for skill development of local youth in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister.
This was announced by GAIL Director (Projects) Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak at a press conference here today. GAIL is implementing the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga and also theCity Gas Distribution (CGD) projects in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Hon’ble Minister will inaugurate CNG stations in Chandrasekharpur and Patia on December 16, 2017. Two more stations are being constructed in Khandagiri and Tamando. Over the coming years, 25 CNG stations will be commissioned in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to supply CNG to vehicles.
Initially, natural gas will reach Bhubaneswar in special containers called “cascades” which will be transported by road from Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh. Later, Natural Gas will be supplied through the 2655 km long Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL), popularly known as the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga. The Hon’ble Minister will also lay the foundation stones for new Dhamra - Angul 36 inch main line and Bhubaneshwar – Cuttack – Paradip 12 inch spur line on December 17, 2017 which are part of this pipeline project.

CNG Project
CNG is one of the most environment-friendly fuels as compared to conventional fuels because it has no impurities such as sulphur or lead. It is safe because it is lighter than air and rises up in case of leakage. Moreover, it is unlikely to ignite because of high ignition temperature of approximately 585 degree Celsius. It is also economical as compared to conventional fuels. CNG being an economical, environment friendly, convenient and safer fuel is a Happy Fuel for every user.
The Hon’ble Minister will also launch of CNG-run scooters in the city. Earlier, these were available only in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. To make it convenient for people to convert their two-wheelers to CNG, GAIL has associated with Bank of Maharasthra to launch a unique financing scheme which will enable the user to convert his or her scooter by paying an EMI of Rs. 500/- every month. Further, tie up for other banks like Punjab National Bank are also being done on similar lines.
Three kit manufacturers have been approved by Transport Commissioner, Odisha for retrofitting of CNG kits in vehicles. Kit manufacturers have also appointed their dealers for Bhubaneswar. Awareness programmes have been conducted for Auto Rickshaw owners and drivers and such initiatives would be continued in future also for the smooth transition of vehicles to CNG.
The commencement of supply of CNG is a major step towards the fulfillment of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of developing a gas-based economy and linking Eastern India to the country’s Natural Gas Grid

The overall capital expenditure for the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack CGD projects will be Rs. 1,700 crores, of which Rs 400 crores will be spent in the next three to five years.

Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga in Odisha
In Odisha, the Natural Gas Pipeline will be constructed at an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crores and have a length of about 769 km covering 13 districts, i.e., Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Kendrapara & will connect major industrial clusters of Khurdha, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalinganagar, Jajpur and Paradip.

Tie-ups with Industrial Customers in Odisha
On the occasion, GAIL will sign term-sheets for supply of Natural Gas to major industries in steel and aluminum sector in the state. This will enable switch over from existing fuels to cleaner, safer, convenient, economical and happy fuel – natural gas.

Skill Development for Odisha
A MoU will be signed in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister between National Skill Development Collaboration, GAIL, Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneshwar and Labour Net Services India Private Limited to collaborate for training local unemployed youth to ensure their employability in various important jobs related to the Natural Gas Pipeline Project. They would be provided training in important trades such as Pipe-fitters (City Gas Distibution), Pipe-fitters (Oil & Gas), Instrumentation Mechanic (Oil and Gas), Industrial Welder (Oil & Gas) and Salesmen-cum-Operators for CNG stations, etc.

Though certain hindrances are being encountered in RoU opening, GAIL is putting all out efforts to overcome the hindrances and complete the Phase-I before the scheduled completion of December 2018. With the award for pipeline to Durgapur and Jamshedpur, GAIL till date has already awarded contracts over Rs 6000 crores covering phase I & II of the project.”

Shri Tripathi said “GAIL is presently executing 4000 kms of Natural Gas pipeline. The 4000 kms pipe line will cover the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Kerala & Karnataka. GAIL is making huge investment in pipeline to fulfil Government’s vision of National Gas Grid. The CAPEX of GAIL for the next Financial year is expected over Rs 6000 crs which will be a jump of more than 50% of current Financial year.”

With these, the activities of Phase –II of JHBDPL and City gas projects en-route the pipeline will also gain momentum and GAIL is committed to complete the project within the project cost & schedule.

New Delhi, December 06, 2017: GAIL (India) Limited hosts the high-profile Oil and Gas HSE Conclave of oil and gas Companies on 08th and 9th December, 2017 at Noida. The two day conclave will have the convergence of senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and heads of oil and gas PSUs of the country.

Speaking at the curtain raiser press conference of the Conclave at GAIL’s Corporate Office in Delhi, Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak, GAIL Director (Projects) and Chairman, Oil and Gas Conclave and Shri P K Gupta, GAIL Director (HR) emphasised the importance of the operation and maintenance aspect of the Oil and Gas Sector in terms of Health Safety and Environment related issues that each plant of Hydrocarbon Sector grapple and keeping the pedestal of accident free, smooth operation of the plant is of paramount importance. While supplies of and production of the vital products of transportation of the hydrocarbon products, natural gas through cross country pipeline infrastructure, refinery and petrochemical units are maintained at the optimum level to meet the requirement of the Country as a whole, smooth operation of the plants are required to be maintained by mitigating the risk of any eventuality during the operation. Dr. Karnatak, said hydrocarbon sector is prone to various industrial hazard during operation.

He pointed out that the two day conclave will deliberate on various issue on the HSE matters for the smooth operation and maintenance of the system in place. He said that more than 350 delegates from oil and gas PSUs and Private Sector Companies are expected to participate in the event including various institutions and Regulators and other stakeholders besides noted contractors during the event.

Referring to the vast marketing distribution network developed by the oil companies supplying essential fuels in the remotest parts, Dr Ashutosh Karnatak said that India has the second largest customer base in the world. “With the country’s high oil import dependence, it is necessary that petroleum products be leveraged with maximum reach to end use customers across the country and importance of Health Safety and Environment issues are really very important today.

New Delhi, November 14, 2017: : GAIL (India) Limited registered a 42% increase in Profit after Tax (PAT) in the second quarter of Financial Year 2017-18, as against the corresponding quarter in last fiscal mainly due to better performance by Liquid Hydrocarbon (LHC) and NG Transmission & Marketing Segments. The Company’s PAT for the quarter ending September 30, 2017 rose to Rs. 1,310 crore from Rs. 925 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal. GAIL’s Profit before Tax (PBT) for the second quarter increased by 40% to Rs. 1,927 crore against Rs. 1,375 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

All the segments have registered positive physical growth both sequentially and on year-on-year basis.

The increase in net profit in Q2 FY 2017-18 on year-on-year basis, was supported by increase in Natural Gas Transmission & Marketing volumes by 5% each, LPG Transmission by 11%, Petrochemicals Sales by 29% & Liquid Hydrocarbon Sales by 17%.

On half yearly basis, GAIL’s PAT is Rs. 2,335 crore, signifying an increase by 32% against H1 16-17 after excluding gain from stake sale in Mahanagar Gas Limited.

GAIL’s PAT in the second quarter of FY 2017-18 rose by 28% vis-à-vis the first quarter of current financial year, from Rs. 1,026 crore to Rs. 1,310 crore largely on account of better performance in Natural Gas Transmission and Natural Gas Marketing segment. Strong performance in Natural Gas Transmission and Marketing is supported by increase in Sales volumes in these segments.

New Delhi, November 1, 2017: : GAIL Chairman & Managing Director Shri B C Tripathi today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, Shri Rajive Kumar for soliciting state government support for expeditious implementation of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connectivity and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicular conversions at Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Ferozabad, Kosi Kalan, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Greater Noida where GAIL is operating City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks through its Subsidiary and Joint Venture companies.

Assuring the company of the Government’s support in ensuring right of use (RoU) and other permissions of the State for expediting ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ Pipeline and also the Varanasi City gas projects, the Chief Secretary issued directions to the various district magistrates and commissioners for facilitating smooth and timely execution of capital investments under the natural gas projects in the State at an outlay of about Rs. 4000 crore for over 800 kms trunk pipeline network scheduled to be completed 2018-19 and Rs. 1000 crore per annum for city gas development in various authorized cities of U.P.

GAIL, as a Central Government Maharatna company has a long-standing partnership with the State and operates gas based petrochemical complex at Pata in Auraiya district, at an investment over Rs. 10,000 crore. It also supports supplies of natural gas to refinery and fertilizer units in U.P. in addition to fuelling glass industry in Agra-Ferozabad, thus balancing environment concerns in the area.

CMD, GAIL stressed on the need for expeditious grant of right of way and other statutory permissions for completing the energy highway and CGD projects of national importance as per envisaged schedule. He also informed that Varanasi CGD project is progressing satisfactorily and with few more permissions made available in the next couple of days, commissioning of the city gas network could be targeted for December 2017. At the same time, pipeline construction to Gorakhpur is scheduled for completion by July 2018. Chief Secretary while appreciating the need to roll-out the projects at a faster pace for ushering overall development, directed the concerned State officials at the Capital and Districts to create an enabling environment for timely execution of GAIL’s pipeline and CGD network projects.

It was also discussed that the State’s support towards fast tracking permissions, rationalization of permission charges by municipalities and government agencies to trunk pipeline and city network laying would greatly help in affordable connectivity to households across cities and towns. Over 2.5 lac households are expected to be added for PNG conversion before March 2018 by GAIL’s City gas entities in the State. In view of the current utilization of CNG infrastructure and 30 more stations being added by the end of the year, assurance was provided by the Chief Secretary to expand the fleet of CNG based public transport buses at Lucknow, Kanpur and other cities for combating vehicular pollution in a time bound manner.

Bhubaneswar, October 20, 2017: On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship today launched the commencement of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply to residents of Bhubaneswar.

The Hon’ble Minister launched the supply of environment-friendly PNG by GAIL (India) Limited in NALCO Nagar at a function in the presence of Shri B C Tripathi, Chairman & Managing Director, GAIL, Dr T K Chand, CMD, NALCO, Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, Director (Projects), GAIL, Shri B K Thakur, Director (HR), NALCO and other dignitaries.

Expressing happiness at the fast pace of work, Shri Pradhan praised GAIL for the early commencement of the 1st phase of supply of PNG in 255 houses which was earlier expected to be completed by March 2018. He said GAIL took up the project on a war-footing and commenced supply of natural gas almost six months before the deadline.

The commencement of supply of natural gas is an important step towards the fulfillment of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of developing a gas-based economy and linking Eastern India to the country’s Natural Gas Grid through the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’, which will pass through five states, i.e. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. The longest stretch of the project – 769 kms – will be built in Odisha. This pipeline will lead to industrial development of eastern India.

City Gas Distribution (CGD) projects in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are being taken up in parallel with the Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL), popularly known as ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’. In Odisha, the Natural Gas Pipeline will be constructed at an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crores and have a length of about 769 km covering 13 districts, i.e., Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Kendrapara & will connect major industrial clusters of Khurdha, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalinganagar, Jajpur and Paradip.

PNG is not just eco-friendly, but is one of the most convenient and safe fuels. There are no hassles of booking and storing cylinders as gas is continuously supplied through pipes and payment is done after usage on the basis of meter reading. Moreover, in the unlikely incident of leakage, the gas quickly rises and disperses in the atmosphere without causing damage.

In Bhubaneswar, construction activities of CNG stations have already been taken up at Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Khandagiri and Tamando, and supply will be commenced at the earliest.
